One of the main goals of TechChill is to educate the youth about the start-up ecosystem and develop their business skills. The selected eighty students met for three workshops running from late October to mid-December exploring topics around the Baltic startup ecosystem, meeting local investment mentors and inspirational speakers from Latvia’s leading startups. With 147 applications coming from 14 universities – striking a gender balance of 52/48 – with female students leading the way two years in a row.
During the Student Workshop #1 – The Big Shift, Marianna Zvaigzne from Printful – Custom Printing & Warehousing, Sandis Kondrats from Exonicus, Inc. and Sigvards Krongorns from Castprint shared their stories and gave advice for the new entrepreneurs. Although Workshop #2 – Talk the Talk, Walk the Walk and Workshop #3 – Young & Hungry Founders Battle were more training based with practical activities intended to strengthen students pitching skills and increase their overall understanding of start-up world.
To give more students the opportunity to attend the TechChill 2020 conference and get first-hand experience of the startup world, we’re bringing back our Academics and Students pass, because it’s all about the people you surround yourself with.
We would also like to extend the invitation to the people that shape the young minds and bring research to light – the academics, postdocs, professors, researchers, and scientists and more! By encouraging the academia to participate we hope to facilitate the exchange of ideas between the two realms and narrow the divide.
With the Academics and Students pass, you receive a full two-day pass that allows you to attend all official TechChill 2020 events on both days, 20+ side events including 2 after parties to take full advantage of informal networking in a smaller crowd! You never know where a chance encounter could take you! So go ahead and get your pass* for a fixed price of 49 EUR. Don’t wait until the last moment because there is a limited number of Academics and Students passes available.
The Student Challenge was hosted in partnership with UL and Microsoft Innovation Centre, Swedbank DoBe, TechHub, Mežpils, Picu Darbnīca and Elektrokartings High Voltage.
*Valid personal and academic/student ID will be required upon the badge claim and entrance of the venue.
